300656 Moving to the Green Life: Urban exodus and urbanisation in the context of climate change and environmentalism (MA: Soziologie der globalen Welt) (S) (SoSe 2025)

Contents, comment

Why do people move to the country, and why do people relocate to life in the city?

In this seminar we will look into mobilities from and to urban and rural spaces and find out more about how climate change and environmental concerns relate to the processes of urbanisation and de-urbanisation. For this, we will discuss and work with a wide range of material, ranging from academic literature and newspaper articles to social media posts and contemporary video games. The aim of this seminar is to get a deeper understanding of the interdisciplinary research of urban and rural studies, migration studies, and environmental sociology, and to gain further insight into diverse qualitative methods to take up research in this field.
